The Honda Accord Hybrid has almost half a century of history. It is a sedan that has learned to measure its customers very well; to know what they like and what they don’t like so much. It is one of the models that has generated the most brand loyalty and that is why we are faced with such a continuous style.
This 11th generation maintains classic elements, such as slim horizontal headlights, a good-sized grille and an elegant silhouette. I would have liked a more revolutionary appearance, especially in times where SUVs are overshadowing this category, but I also understand that Accord’s most loyal customers are looking for this.
An interior that convinces with quality and comfort:
If you are familiar with Honda’s latest releases, the interior of the 2023 Honda Accord most likely sounds familiar to you. The thin dashboard, the tablet-like screen, the continuous A/C grille and the three knobs in the center are almost carbon copies of the Civic and CR-V.
Where Accord takes advantage is, evidently, in refinement. The selection of materials leaves it at a very good level. It doesn’t reach the level of Acura, but it asks very little of it. We will find soft surfaces everywhere, clear contrasting details and multiple pieces upholstered in leather.
Now, in terms of equipment, the Honda Accord Hybrid arrives in Mexico in the Touring version, the top of the range. We are going to find infotainment with a 12.3″ screen, front seats with electric adjustment, 12-speaker Bose sound system, heating for front and rear seats, sunroof, wireless charger, the entire suite of Honda’s advanced driving assistants, instrument panel digital and (finally) blind spot monitor. The Honda Lane Watch system disappears in favor of a traditional monitor. The only thing I miss in its configuration for Mexico are ventilated seats.

Its peculiarity is that it uses two electric motors, which combined with a 2.0-liter Atkinson cycle engine generates a total of 204 hp and 247 lb-ft. With these numbers it is not an explosive vehicle nor one that we can classify as fast, but it is far from being slow. It has the necessary power and good starting thanks to the electric motors.
As for driving sensations, I like how smooth its reactions are and, above all, how quiet it is. The task of starting is always assigned to the electric motors, so there are no noises or vibrations; If the battery has enough charge, it can even circulate in completely electric mode at rates of 45 to 50 km/h by decision of the car.
The ride quality is very good. It is a car totally focused on comfort, and although Honda claims that it has the most fun chassis that has ever existed in an Accord, that does not make it a fun car. He exudes confidence, responds correctly and moves with poise, but everything happens more smoothly than firmly. Of course, the suspension travel is not that long, so you can hear and feel the impact quite a bit when hitting deep potholes.
Finally, the million-dollar question: consumption. During the days I was driving it I averaged 19.9 km/l, although most of the kilometers were in weekend traffic. Perhaps with heavier traffic it could be around 17 km/l because at low speed, the motor that carries the load is the electric one.
Is the Honda Accord Hybrid worth it?
When this new generation of Honda Accord came out, I had my doubts about whether or not it would arrive in Mexico. In recent years, sales of this category have become very small in the shadow of SUVs. It’s nice that Honda was encouraged to sell this new generation, and that it also offers it in a hybrid version.
