Reintroduced in 2021, the Venza has evolved, blurring the lines between Toyota and its premium counterpart, Lexus. We’ll explore its design cues, reminiscent of Lexus, and whether it’s a worthy investment before its departure in Toyota Venza 2024.
The Venza’s history dates back to 2009, known for its unique design. Today, it embodies a fusion of Toyota’s practicality and Lexus’s sophistication.
Starting with its exterior, the Toyota Venza 2024 showcases slim LED headlights, reminiscent of Lexus’s styling. Functional air curtains and a sculpted front end add to its premium appeal. Despite its Toyota badge, the Venza exudes Lexus-like elegance.
Moving to its performance, the Venza boasts a hybrid powertrain, delivering 219 horsepower and impressive fuel efficiency, making it a compelling choice in the crossover segment.
Inside, the Venza’s interior exudes luxury, with triple-tone door panels, soft-touch materials, and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen. Features like heated and ventilated seats, wireless charging, and a panoramic roof elevate the driving experience.
Despite its similarities to Lexus, the Venza offers practicality, with ample rear-seat space, USB ports, and a spacious cargo area with a power liftgate.
On the road, the Venza delivers a smooth, quiet ride, thanks to its hybrid technology and refined cabin. With Toyota’s safety features and advanced driver aids, it ensures a secure driving experience.
The Toyota Venza 2024 Platinum trim offers a compelling blend of luxury, efficiency, and practicality, bridging the gap between Toyota and Lexus. Whether it’s the right choice over upcoming models like the crown signia or Rav 4 hybrid depends on your preferences. But for those seeking a refined crossover experience, the Venza delivers.
Overview:
The Toyota Venza 2024 is not exactly our reference for a family vehicle nor does it represent a novelty in Mexico, but we really wanted to get our hands on it, especially because over the years it has become a relatively popular model on our streets. Every time we think about his proposal, we end up with the same question in mind: Is the Toyota Venza a smart buy?
One thing is what is said on the paper of the technical sheet and another is what is written after driving it for a long time. Out of curiosity about a product that has been strongly criticized in our country, we took the Toyota Venza 2024 here and there to discover first-hand how effective it is as a family transportation vehicle.
Good or bad 7 people fit:
We cannot say that the Toyota Venza 2024 is an SUV or something similar. It is, rather, a minivan developed from the needs of a region where families are so large that they could make their own soccer team: Asia. Specifically, the Toyota Venza comes from Toyota’s Thai subsidiary, with the intention of moving 7 passengers without a heavy investment in a large SUV.
First of all, it seems like a sincere vehicle to us. What you see is what there nothing more is seven seats, a steering wheel and a workhorse with no other pretensions than to transport the family. This is evident from the design, far from Toyota’s latest aesthetic trend, but with square and somewhat generic shapes that ensure good (Let’s leave it at enough) interior space.
Enough space? You would wonder. And I will answer that, contrary to what one might think, yes. If you look at the Avanza’s technical data sheet, you will discover that it measures only 4.14 meters long and 1.66 meters wide barely 8 cm longer, but 3 narrower than a SEAT Ibiza but somehow, Toyota managed to make a vehicle of These dimensions would have room for seven Mexicans of average height.
The third row of seats offers exact dimensions for a person no taller than 1.65 m. You can sit in a normal posture, although headroom is limited and there is hardly any room to accommodate your legs. The fact of not being able to fit your feet under the seats in front does not help either. The headrests, for their part, only offer height adjustment, but they seem effective in preventing the occupants of the rear row from hitting the glass of the medallion – which is very close – in the event of a rear-end collision.
In the second row of seats, the Toyota Venza 2024 space is more like that of a subcompact. Tall passengers might be a little uncomfortable, as it is easy for their knees to reach the backrest of the front seats. In width, if three people go, there is not much to do; anyone traveling in the middle seat must also deal with the high transmission tunnel.
In the end, the Toyota Venza 2024 is more of an urban vehicle than a travel vehicle. If we want a third row of seats, we have to almost completely sacrifice the trunk. In other words, if we travel with the family, we need a Toyota Venza to transport the 7 passengers and another to carry the cooler, food and everyone’s luggage.
Mobility in every sense of the word
Perhaps its passenger capacity and mechanical reliability are its only virtues. In the rest there are so many areas for improvement that we don’t know where to start. One of them is the relationship between equipment and quality with respect to price. The model we had in our hands corresponds to the LE version, the entry-level version of the range.
The equipment is very basic, it only has air conditioning, a sound system with auxiliary input and USB port -without Bluetooth connection, 4 speakers – the sound is not the best -, electrical equipment and rear defroster. We would justify its austerity if Toyota did not ask 240,500 pesos for a vehicle like this, but it does. And there is a version of 269,400 pesos, which adds a touch screen, aluminum wheels, another pair of speakers and exclusive fog lights.
The quality of the finishes does not help in the balance either. All the plastics in the cabin are hard and even shiny, very economical in appearance. The assemblies, for the most part, seem correct, but with 2,800 kilometers traveled, this Toyota Avanza already had some noises coming from the dashboard and the doors.
Now, security. Over the years, many colleagues have said that the Toyota Venza 2024 is not a safe vehicle. With two airbags, ABS brakes and four stars in crash tests , it seems to offer adequate levels of protection… and yet we agree with them.
The Toyota Venza 2024 is not an unsafe vehicle because of its number of airbags or its structure, but because of its very conception. The small tires, the height of the body and the soft suspension become a risk when performing dodge maneuvers, even more so due to imprecise steering that stiffens in quick reactions.
Every action we take when driving an Toyota Venza 2024 must be done with caution, as if we were driving a pick-up, because without assistance such as electronic stability control and with a high center of gravity, an error or a miscalculated swerve could end in an unnecessary scare. And, in the worst case, a rollover.
The engine has our vote of confidence having been developed by Toyota and tested for years and years, although its response definitely falls short, even more so with a 4-speed automatic transmission , like our test unit. The starts, even if they are only touching the accelerator, stretch up to 3,000 revolutions in first and then in second. After 4,000 rpm it seems that the engine has already given its all, but it continues to struggle, without much success, to reach more speed.
Is the Toyota Venza 2024 a smart purchase?
Equipped? No. Efficient? Not fast? Unsure? No. The two best and only – arguments of the Toyota Venza 2024 are reliability and the possibility of transporting 7 passengers, at the expense of a vehicle that in everything else leaves something to be desired, especially considering that its price ranges from 235,000 to 270,000 weights, prices for which we already find models with better finishes, more technology, more safety, more modern engines and even more spacious interiors, but without the possibility of transporting 7 people.
If you really need all the places almost all the time, the Avanza is an interesting option… because for that price you won’t find anything else in the new car market, other than the always forgotten Peugeot Partner. The Toyota Avanza’s real competition is in the used vehicle market , where a 2013 Mazda 5, a 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander or a 2013 Toyota Highlander are a much more interesting option, for the same or even less money.
