The Hyundai Sonata 2024 completely changes its image and makes us miss that segment more and more
We have practically run out of mid-size sedans in Mexico, except for three contenders. In other markets, these continue to exist and are constantly updated. An example of this is the 2024 Hyundai Sonata. This iteration is updated to face titans like the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord.
Although its design is entirely new, it must be clear that it is not a new generation. It remains the eighth in its history. It now adopts the latest brand design language, Sensuous Sportiness. This completely changes its image, making it look more like the Grandeur. An LED light runs across its front from side to side, and the fascia becomes square and more aggressive. The sides maintain a silhouette similar to the previous model, but the wheels change noticeably.
The rear part also completely modifies the shape of the lights, and depending on the version, it can have a minor spoiler and a much more marked diffuser. The wheels can go from 18″ to 19″ according to the selected version. Inside, there are also significant changes, in this case, carrying new 12.3″ screens for the instrument panel and infotainment system, which are now included in a curved frame. In the center console, there are also changes since we will no longer find a traditional lever, which a selector is replacing through buttons.
Likewise, the interior receives new combinations of colors and materials to give it sensations of more terrific refinement. The equipment remains abundant, including a premium audio system, compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone A/C, sunroof, heated seats, wireless charging, etc.
Mechanically, everything indicates that there have been no significant changes. It will have a 2.5-liter turbo engine with 290 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque as standard. Likewise, it has not yet been confirmed, but everything indicates that there will be an AWD variant. Inside is an updated driving position with a pair of 12.3-inch screens (one for the driver and one for the infotainment system) merged behind a single curved monitor.
The driver also has a Head-up Display at his disposal, and, for sound lovers, Hyundai has updated the 12-speaker Bose sound system. The 2024 Sonata is offered with three engine options for the North American market. We’ve already mentioned the ‘base’ sedan’s 2.5-liter four-cylinder. The Hyundai Sonata N Line has a 2.5-liter turbocharged engine, and the hybrid opts for a 2.0-liter block in addition to a single electric motor.
Hyundai’s official press release does not discuss changes to these engines or include specific power values. So it is correct to think that the N Line produces 290 HP, while the hybrid develops 192 HP of combined power. The entry-level Sonata announces 191 HP.
Likewise, prices for the new 2024 model are not yet available. In any case, the base price of a 2023 Sonata SE is $26,565 (24,360 euros); the 2024 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Blue starts at $29,565 (27,115 euros) and the 2023 N Line starts at $35,940 (32,960 euros).

The N Line features a 2.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine for more power, delivering 290 HP at 5,800 RPM and 311 LB ft of torque at 1,600 RPM. Power is sent exclusively to the front wheels through an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission with paddle shifters. The N Line’s 0-60 mph time is an impressive 5 seconds, and its fuel economy is rated at 23 mpg in the city and 33 mpg highway. It runs on regular unleaded fuel.
Drive Modes
